Aug 27 Barnsville, MN to Alexandria, MN ( 81 miles)
Today was a reasonably good day. Got a great breakfast at the Messer’s home and Chris Messer and the girls Megan and Savannah and the boy Jenson rode with me to highway 52 to see me off.
I rode to Fergus Falls and ate lunch and then got on a nice bike trail and rode to Alexandria. The wind was in my face all day but it was just gentle breeze and was not too bad. I was averaging 9 to 11 mph most of the day. It rained on me a little this afternoon but not too bad. The bike trail was great. Real smooth, no cars, trucks, or hardly any other bikes or walkers. It is a really nice trail built on the old railroad tracks. I will be able to ride on it tomorrow for another 50 miles or so till I get to St. Joseph then I will have to battle the highways again.
Minnesota is very beautiful. The scenery is slowly changing. Still a lots of farmland but the terrain is becoming more rolling hills and the trees are becoming more common and thicker. There also seems to be more water as I go east.
